Paint protection film in Croydon
Clear, self-healing film over the panels that actually get hit, with edges wrapped so there is nothing to pick at.
PPF is a clear urethane film that sits over your paint and takes the damage instead of it. Stone chips, road rash, the arch you keep catching with your shoe, the door edge that meets the pillar in a tight car park. It is invisible once on, and light swirling in it self-heals with heat.
The detail that separates a good install is the edges. Cutting the film on the face of a panel leaves a line you can feel, dirt sits in it, and eventually it lifts. Wrapping it around the edge instead means there is nothing to catch.
How it works
-
01
Decontaminate
The paint is washed, decontaminated and panel-wiped. Film traps whatever is under it.
-
02
Pattern
Film cut to the panel from a pattern, off the car, with no blade near your paint.
-
03
Fit
Laid wet, worked out from the centre, and taken around every edge rather than cut on the face.
-
04
Settle
Left to bond. Any remaining haze under the film clears as it dries out.
- Panel measured and pattern cut
- Film laid and edges wrapped
- Finished, invisible
Common questions
What is the difference between PPF and a wrap?
A wrap is coloured vinyl and changes how the car looks. PPF is clear urethane and changes what the paint survives. PPF is thicker, self-heals, and is about protection rather than appearance. Plenty of cars have both.
Does paint protection film go yellow?
Quality modern film has UV inhibitors and stays clear. The yellowing people remember is from older generations of film.
Can you put a ceramic coating over PPF?
Yes, and it is a good combination. The film takes the impacts, and the coating on top makes both the film and the surrounding paint easier to keep clean.
Does it need sound paint underneath?
Yes. Film needs something to bond to and to release from cleanly. We will tell you straight if a panel is not up to it, rather than covering a problem.
Where we are
Paint protection film is carried out at our own unit on Stanley Road in Croydon, along with everything else we do - design, print, wrap, tint, lighting and finishing all happen under one roof, so nothing gets subbed out and nothing gets lost between two workshops. We are a few minutes from the A23 and East Croydon, and we take cars from across South London and Surrey.
